A LOT of different style harnesses are found in stores. But which one is suitable for your dog? Here we put the pro's and con's of every harness to help you choose.
1) the leather Step-in harness
The Step-in harness is a really easy one. It has a band before the chest and one underneath, just after the front legs. Step in harnesses usually close with a click buckle on top and have two rings to attach the leash. Step-in harnesses are really handy to put on and off, even a Dog Dad can do it in no time. :)
A step-in harness is less suitable for a hard pulling dog, because, due to the design of this kind of harness, when the dog pulls, it's possible that there will come pressure on the dog's trachea, which can cause discomfort.
Leather is a natural product. It feels comfortable on your dog's skin and is easy to maintain: use a damp cloth to clean it, and once in a while a bit of natural saddle soap and your harness will last a lifetime. Leather harnesses become more supple and beautiful over time and they have a look and feel of luxury.
2) The leather Step-in harness with sheepskin
For dogs with a sensitive skin, it's good to choose for an extra layer of softness with the leather harness furred with real sheepskin. The wool keeps warm in winter and cool in summer. When dirty, just use a stiff brush to clean it.
3) The VEGAN step in harness
Some people feel discomfortable when using real animal products on their dogs, that's why we launched the VEGAN collection. The Vegan harnesses are based on the same principle as the leather ones, but with the difference that no animal component is used when producing them. The Vegan leather has the look and feel of real leather, but is cheaper and easier to maintain. Just put them in the washing machine at a low temperature short cycle, and they return as new.
When your dog loves to swim and play in the water, the vegan harness is a better option than the leather one. It will not soak up water and stays light.
4) The X-tra ergonomic harness
Some small dog breeds, such as the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and other short nosed dogs, can suffer from breathing difficulties. Therefore we designed the X-tra ergonomic harness. This harness is made to prevent any pressure on the dog's trachea, allowing them to breath freely, even when pulling the leash.
the X-shape of the harness divides the pressure and makes wearing the harness more comfortable in any circumstance.
Our X-tra harness line is made from soft corduroy, which is comfortable to wear and easy to maintain. Just throw it in the machine on a gentle cycle.
5) the SPORT harness
The SPORT harness, or tactical harness is most suitable for every sporty activity. This harness is made from durable nylon and lined with comfortable neoprene. The harness has reflective striping for use during winter and dark summer evenings. Tactical harnesses have an Y-shape in front which allows the dog's shoulder to move freely. The pressure is evenly divided over front and chest. Sport harnesses can be used in all dog related activities: swimming, jogging, agility, mantracking, hiking, camping and so much more. They are waterproof and very sturdy. Our line of Sport harnesses feature an extra buckle to open at the neck. Especially big headed or sensible dogs don't like things being pulled overhead. The tactical harness has metal hardware and sturdy buckles for extra safety. There's a D-ring at the back, but also in the front for the hard pullers among our furry friends. Sport harnesses are suitable for small dogs up to giant dogs. The tiniest furbabys may better choose another type of harness, because tactical harnesses may look too bulky on them.
6) the double shutter harness
Despite what their pawrents may prefer, some of our furbabies turn out to be real escape artists out of every harness. For those little bandits, the SPORT Double Shutter harness will be the solution. This harness is based on the normal tactical harness, but features two closing straps over the chest, which makes this harness impossible to escape from. This harness is designed to offer utmost moving freedom, whilst keeping the dog from escaping out of the harness by pulling back. The double shutter harness is also the best choice to ensure your dog's safety during car rides, combined with a dog car seat belt. In case of an impact, the pressure will be divided over 6 different places and your dog will not be rejected out of the harness. For dogs who are unsure, scared or suffer from anxiety, this double shutter harness is the best choice. Not only impossible to escape from, but the special design makes your dog feel comfortable and cosy whilst wearing it.
7) the FASHION harness
For the fashionistas amongst us, there's the FASHION harness. Basically this harness is designed from a collar, with a harness made on it. It's made from the softest nappaleather, has a touch of luxury and feels buttery soft. This harness is not suitable to ensure your dog during car rides, because it pulls on the neck. Designed for little furbabies that need to look at their sunday's best, this harness is the best choice if you want your dog to show off. Not suitable for big dogs, or hard pullers, but for cute little furbabies such as Chihuahuas or Pomeranians. Because of the bigger backpiece, this harness looks stunning on all Teckels.
Is your dog a well mannered walker, or does he prefer to sit in a stroller or carrier whilst looking good? Than this harness may be the best choice for you.
The fashion harness is a beautifull alternative for a collar.
